Write either an ancient or modern curse that might be used to protect a book from thieves or vandals.
Imagine the scribe who would have written the curse. Tell us, why did they feel the need to protect the book with a curse?
The book being protected should match the time of the curse, i.e. an ancient book is protected by an ancient curse; a modern book is protected by a modern curse.
Only divulge the text of the curse and the circumstances of the curse's creation; don't reveal the consequences just yet.
Tell us a story in which a character first discovers the book. Describe the title, type, genre, or purpose of the book, and the circumstances surrounding the discovery. It can be a fiction or non-fiction book that is discovered.
You must include the geographic location and year when the book is found. The book may be found on Earth or somewhere else.
Describe your main character and how he or she discovers the book's curse. Remind your readers of the text of the curse.
Feel free to include as many subplots and secondary characters as you feel necessary to tell your story.
Does your main character steal or vandalize the book? Describe how and why he or she perpetrates the act.
What curse consequences does the main character and any secondary characters encounter? How do they endure, manage, escape or fail when confronted with those consequences?
Don't forget to include an interesting and well-contrived ending.
